Michael Schelle Piece on Dayton’s “Pirates” Concert

A program announcement for the Dayton Philharmonic’s concert captained by Neil Gittleman appeared in the Dayton Daily News this past weekend. Swashbuckler by composer Michael Schelle was performed alongside familiar Pirate story favorites ranging from Peter Pan to The Pirates of Penzance. Dedicated in part to Hollywood icon Errol Flynn, Michael Schelle’s Swashbuckler is reminiscent of Korngold’s score to “Captain Blood” which starred Flynn in the main role.
