A glimpse ahead to the next couple of months clearly shows Peng-Peng Gong on a roll. More audiences are discovering the composer’s powerful and emotionally direct style as the musical community has increasingly embraced his considerable talents. This remarkable surge of interest is illustrated by a number of noteworthy premieres this season~
On May 10, 2013 Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra will devote the entire concert to the works of Peng-Peng Gong’s conducted by Zhang Liang. The program will include a World Premiere of his Symphony No. 3: Eines Helden Träne (A Hero’s Tear), as well as the second performance of his piano concerto Zhonghua Chronicles, featuring the composer on piano.
In addition to the premiere of Peng-Peng Gong’s ballet suite, Death of the Honeybees, at Juilliard last month, we also look forward to the world premiere of his overture, Lament for Orchestra with the Lebanon Valley College Orchestra led by Hannes Dietrich on April 21.
