A warm welcome to R. Mark Rogers, DMA who was brought aboard as Southern Music’s Managing Editor this past June. Rogers brings extensive knowledge and considerable experience to his role, having helped build an impressive catalog of band, instrumental and choral music under the publisher’s previous ownership. With his editorial leadership, Southern looks forward to a bright future carrying on the proud tradition of offering the highest quality educational music and teacher resources available anywhere.
Mark Rogers has degrees from Texas Tech University and the University of Texas. As Director of Publications for Southern Music Company from 1993 through 2012, he authored editions of the music of Percy Grainger and John Philip Sousa that have entered band repertory worldwide. He is also widely published as an arranger and transcriber, with performances by all five of the Washington, DC service bands. Dr. Rogers is conductor of the Heart of Texas Concert Band, serves on the adjunct faculty of four universities in south and central Texas, and performs on bassoon and contrabassoon with six regional orchestras.
Keiser-Southern Music is pleased to introduce Matthew Keiser as the company’s Sales, Rental and Media Manager. With his background in sales, Matt Keiser will manage and develop the relationships needed to bring the music of Keiser-Southern composers to more audiences and musicians.
Matthew grew up in Woodbury, CT where he attended and graduated from high school. An accomplished musician, he studied piano for ten years, played trumpet in the band and bass in the jazz band. He accepted a scholarship to pitch for the baseball team at Post University in Connecticut while pursuing his studies. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and went on to start his own renovation company as a carpenter and contractor.
Looking for experience in sales, Matt has spent the past two years working for the admissions office of his Alma-mater, Post University. As a sales and admissions counselor in their online division, he worked extensively with prospective students to coordinate all aspects of the admissions process and moving them into enrollment in the program of their choice. He is looking forward to bringing his sales experience in higher education to the music industry, assisting our customers, developing new revenue sources, generating more performances of our composers’ music and being a member of the Keiser-Southern team.
